Welcome to the AYSO Region 58 Extra Soccer League Webpage
This page was updated on April 26, 2012
Extra Team Tryouts will begin April 14. Information about what is required to tryout for an Extra team is provided below.
Please take note of the following:
(1) Extra teams are formed “new” each year. Players who were on the Fall 2011 Extra teams are not automatically selected for the Fall 2012 team, they need to tryout again.
(2) A selection committee comprised of individuals unrelated to the Extra team being formed will determine which players will be selected. Coaches for the prospective teams are not part of the selection committee.
(3) Coaches for the Fall 2012 Extra teams have not been selected. Just as players need to tryout each year, individuals who wish to coach an Extra team need to apply each year to be considered.
(4) For any particular age group if sufficient players of the appropriate skill level are not available to form an Extra team, then a team for that age group will not be formed. Similarly, if an appropriate coach for any particular age group is not available, then a team for that age group will not be formed.
(5) The success of this and other AYSO Region 58 programs requires the full participation of everyone. AYSO is an all-volunteer run organization. Families will be required to volunteer in different volunteer duties such as: Referee, Team Manager, Snack-Bar, Field set-up & Take-Down, Picture Day, Board Member.
The AYSO EXTRA program is a competitive soccer league designed to provide a higher level of play for those players who possess the appropriate skills, abilities, and drive. The EXTRA program is designed to enhance each player's experience and individual growth through the game of soccer while retaining the spirit, organization and six philosophies of AYSO.
Extra Team Tryouts will start in April 2012
To be considered for an EXTRA team, you must attend one tryout session and, if asked, the call back session. All Keepers must attend the Keeper Tryout session. Shinguards and cleats are required and mandatory at each tryout session. Each tryout session will start with a 30 minute sign-in time, information and warm-up. Please arrive 30 minutes before your tryout. Late arriving players might not be able to try-out for that day. It’s important that you RSVP to each tryout session and when doing so include your child’s date of birth (DOB). Please sign-up for tryouts online. Thanks!
